What to Expect During Your First Session

What to Expect During Your First Session

Your horse’s first bodywork session is an important step toward improving comfort, movement, and overall wellness. Here’s what you need to know to prepare and get the most from the experience.

Before the Session

  • Time off afterward: If possible, plan at least 24 hours of rest after bodywork. This allows your horse’s body to integrate the benefits.

  • Riding beforehand is fine: Exercising or warming up your horse before the session can actually help. Warm muscles respond more easily to bodywork.

  • Clean and dry: Make sure your horse is clean and dry so your hands and equipment can move freely and comfortably.

  • Quiet, focused environment: A calm, quiet space helps your horse relax and focus during the session.

  • Schedule wisely: Avoid overlapping with feeding or turnout. Choosing a consistent, low-stress time helps your horse get the most from the session.

During the Session

I’ll work with your horse hands-on, assessing muscle tone, posture, and movement patterns. The session will be tailored to their individual needs, incorporating massage, PEMF, and/or cupping as appropriate.

After the Session

  • Personalized feedback: I’ll provide a verbal assessment of what I observed, highlighting areas of tension, asymmetry, or improvement.

  • Homework for your horse: Based on the session, I’ll give exercises, stretches, or recommendations designed to improve your horse’s fitness, comfort, and overall well-being.

Summary

Preparing your horse, creating a calm environment, and following post-session guidance helps ensure your first bodywork session is safe, effective, and beneficial. Every horse is unique, and my goal is to provide personalized care that supports long-term wellness.
